MESSAGE FROM THE MINISTER FOR INDUSTRY AND TRADE
It gives me great pleasure to support this important 'Shanghai Design Biennial Industry Capability Mission' to the People's Republic of China. The Mission involves an elite group of innovative designers, architects, builders and urbanization related technologies, products and services providers from the State of Victoria, Australia.
The mission delegates include representatives from a range of 'design' related sectors and each of them has been invited to participate in this Mission because they have something unique to offer.
They continue to play a significant role in the development of Melbourne and to enhance its reputation as a global 'design-centre' and one of the World's most liveable and sustainable cities.
Cities that are intrinsically connected with their 'design' sectors become more liveable and sustainable and attract creative and innovative people. In turn, creative and innovative people attract high-value knowledge based industries and this is why a strong, innovative design sector is such an important indicator of the long-term well being and prosperity of a city and region.
I strongly recommend that you take the time to read through this directory and to meet with the companies participating in this Mission. I am very confident that you will be impressed by their level of expertise and global experience and by the vast range of services, technologies and products that they can provide.
