MESSAGE FROM THE MINISTER FOR INDUSTRY AND TRADE
It gives me great pleasure to support this inaugural Victorian Fashion Designers' Mission to China. Strengthening trade, economic and people to people relations with the People's Republic of China is a major priority of the Victorian Government. China is an important emerging market for the Victorian fashion industry.
The Mission will provide an international business platform to showcase and promote the Victorian fashion industry and create greater awareness of Australian fashion within the China market. This mission is the first step of a planned strategy to assist emerging Victorian fashion designers to go to market to showcase internationally and explore future export potential.
The Victorian Government is committed to positioning Melbourne, Victoria as Australia's leading retail city and one of the fashion capitals of the world Victoria is at the cutting edge of fashion and design innovation and exhibits a clear sense of individuality and personality.
I strongly recommend that you take the time to review the information contained within and to meet with the high-calibre Victorian companies participating in this exciting Mission. I am confident that you will be impressed by their creative and artistic talents and the unique, independent and idiosyncratic fashion that they can provide to the Chinese consumer.
I encourage you to engage with them to explore how you can work together to achieve mutually beneficial business outcomes in the future.
